Participation in "Human Rights Due Diligence Workshop"
As part of the efforts towards human rights due diligence, TOTO participated in the stakeholder engagement program "Human Rights Due Diligence Workshop" to approach the issue through a dialogue with various stakeholders. Organized by the NPO Caux Round Table Japan since 2012, this workshop identifies "Important Human Rights Issues for Each Industry" based on the participation of multiple stakeholders such as companies, NGO/NPO, and experts with the aim of putting the United Nations "Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights" into practice in companies. (Participating members: Total 16 participants from 12 NGOs/NPOs, and 46 participants from 30 companies.
Based on the "Important Human Rights Issues for Each Industry" identified in the previous year, a discussion on the relationship with these human rights issues and global risks (based on The Global Risks 2014 report issued by the World Economic Forum) was conducted in 2014. Through its participation in a total of five workshops, TOTO has deepened its understanding of the relationship between its business activities and human rights and also the context in which human rights violations occur.
